Know what's biting,
where to stand, and what to tie on.

Bite scores the water in front of you, ranks the fish actually worth your time today, and tells you where to fish, how deep, and what to put on the hook — with the reasoning behind every call.

Free to use. Works in your browser and installs to your home screen.

The Bite home screen, scoring a beach at 61 out of 100 with grey mullet as the target species
Your swim

One water. One number.

Set your water once — a beach, a lake, a stretch of river, a club pond — and Bite remembers it. Every time you open the app it scores that water for right now, from sit it out through to prime, go now, and names the species genuinely most worth targeting.

61
Worth a look

Underneath it: the prime window counted down to the minute, and alerts worth acting on — “water is at 18.2 °C, right in the feeding window for grey mullet”.

Conditions

Every app shows you the weather.
Bite tells you what it means.

These are the signals behind the score. Each one is read against the species you are actually fishing for, and any reading Bite does not have simply doesn't count — it never invents one.

Water temperature

The strongest single predictor of whether a fish feeds at all. Every species has its own band, and Bite scores each one against today's reading.

Tide, and the size of it

Not just high water — how much water is moving. A big spring tide and a dead neap fish nothing alike.

Wind, and which bank

Speed and direction turned into where to stand: the wind pushes food onto the far bank, except when a cold easterly chills it.

Pressure, cloud and rain

A falling glass ahead of a front is one of the better feeding triggers there is. Hard bright light does the opposite.

Swell and water clarity

A stirred sea suits the fish hunting by scent and kills the lure fishing for the ones hunting by sight.

Solunar and real sun times

Major and minor feeding periods, and true dawn and dusk for your latitude — not fixed hours.

The gameplan

Three steps for this session.

The part most apps leave to you. Written for this water, in this weather, at this state of tide.

1Look for marks facing SE — that is where the wind is putting the colour and the food.
2Fish for grey mullet for the first 90 minutes — it is the strongest bet on the water right now.
3No takes by 14:00 — switch to gilthead bream and fish 1–8 m.

Below it sits the whole board — every species that could realistically be caught, ranked, so you can see what you are choosing between and why.

Point it at anything

One tap. No decision.

The water, your tackle box, a bait tub, a fish in your hands. Bite works out what it is looking at and answers accordingly.

Swim ID

Point it at the water. Bite reads the features in front of you and where the fish are likely holding.

Tackle ID

Photograph your tackle box. Bite identifies every item and picks the best of what you already own for today.

Bait ID

Your bait bag or fly box, ranked for the conditions — and the rig to fish each one on.

Catch ID

Species, estimated weight and length from a photo, logged in one tap.

Ask Ghillie

Every angler learned from someone.

Ghillie is a fishing guide who answers anything, in plain language — rigs, baits, species, rules, or how something in the app works. Ask him at three in the morning on a riverbank and he answers. He is also how a beginner who has just bought their first rod stops feeling lost.

The knowledge behind the answer

Every species, drawn and known.

Bite does not just name a fish. For every species it holds the season, the feeding times, the temperature band, the water it lives in, where in the depth it sits, the rig, the bait, the handling and the rules — and the artwork to go with it.

Curated books for Europe, plus regional books for anywhere else on earth — so the app is as useful on a Polish canal or an Indian reservoir as it is on a Devon beach.

No signal

It still works in the valley.

Fishing happens in valleys, in woods and three miles down a beach. Most apps simply stop. Bite keeps going, and is honest about the parts that cannot.

  • Every species guide, rig, bait and knot
  • The regulations for where you are standing
  • Solunar feeding times and true dawn and dusk
  • Your tide table, from the last time you had a signal
  • Catches logged offline, sent the moment a bar returns

Live conditions and the AI scans need a connection — the app says so, rather than pretending.

Your language

The whole app translates, not just the menus.

Wherever you fish

Not a UK app with translations bolted on.

Bite works anywhere there is water. Species knowledge, regulations and fly patterns are region-aware, so an angler in Kerala is not handed a British species list and an angler in Montana is not offered British flies. Sea, river, lake, canal and stillwater — one app, in your language.
